CNN —The genesis of photographer Joy Gregory’s latest project, “Shining Lights,” began 40 years ago, at a Valentine’s Day party in London. After the party and as they became friends, Mercer suggested the pair collaborate on a book about women’s photography. Courtesy the artist/MACKThe idea then, for a book surveying the work of Black women’s photography in Britain in the 1980s and 1990s, lay dormant for several decades. The result is “Shining Lights: Black Women Photographers in 1980s–90s Britain,” a new photography book edited by Gregory and co-published by Autograph and Mack. “I think as women, it wasn’t open, and I think being of color, it definitely wasn’t open.”In the book, Black “refers to the whole gamut of color, which was really about difference,” says Gregory.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's attorney general is considering prosecuting convicted former Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra over an alleged insult of the powerful monarchy, an official said on Tuesday, just weeks away from his possible release on parole. The lese-majeste law is among the world's strictest, with each perceived offence punishable by up to 15 years in prison. The influential Thaksin, prime minister from 2001-2006, made a dramatic homecoming last August from 15 years in self-imposed exile to serve an eight-year jail sentence for abuse of power, later commuted to one year by the king. Prayut Petchkhun, spokesperson for the attorney-general's office, told reporters the seven-year delay in acting on the royal insults complaint was because Thaksin had been abroad. Thailand current government is backed by the Shinawatra family, with Thaksin's return coinciding with ally and real estate mogul Srettha Thavisin becoming prime minister that same day.

It was a bombastic end to one of the most consequential, and tumultuous, weeks in W.W.E.’s history. In the days between the Netflix deal and “Royal Rumble,” however, came a stark reminder of how sordid legal entanglements from the company’s recent past could reverberate in the present. employee, Janel Grant, sued Vince McMahon — the co-founder of what would become W.W.E. and the executive chairman of the board of TKO Group — and accused him of sexual assault and sex trafficking. Paris CNN —King Charles and Queen Camilla have just wrapped up their long-awaited state visit to France, spending their final day in the southwest of the country. The royal trip to France has been seen by many as a continuation of the two neighbors' efforts to reset relations in a post-Brexit world. French President Emmanuel Macron rolled out the red carpet for King Charles III. Another element that looks likely to become a staple of state visits from King Charles is the focus on green issues. Throughout the trip, French news broadcasters went into daily special programming, with their commentators dissecting every move in their hours-long coverage.

The fund, ticker CGDV, is the top performing dividend fund so far this year, said Bryan Armour, Morningstar's director of passive strategies research for North America. However, the fund also invests in some non-dividend paying companies, which helped give it a boost this year. CGDV, Capital Group's largest exchange traded fund, is one of the first six ETFs the firm launched in February 2022. "Investors appreciate its non-traditional value strategy focusing on above average income while also generating long-term capital appreciation through an emphasis on companies trading below their intrinsic value," Gerber said.

June 26 (Reuters) - Cruise operator Carnival (CCL.N) on Monday forecast third-quarter profit largely below estimates as rising marketing and labor costs eat into gains from higher ticket prices and strong demand. On Thursday, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez announced that he is running alongside 12 other Republican candidates. Unlike the crowded 1976 Democratic primaries or the 2016 Republican primaries, which turned into a WWE-style battle royal of aspiring presidents, there is a clear frontrunner this time around: Trump. And despite his invincible self-image, Republicans know that Trump can lose — he was defeated in 2020 and Republicans under his banner did poorly in the 2018 and 2022 midterms. Like President Joe Biden, Trump is relatively old for a US president, having turned 77 on Wednesday. Republicans understand that while Trump remains the leading contender, there is a desire and a need for younger leaders to step up.
